What a personal journey the Silverstone Marathon was for me, i think it actually took a couple day for me to actually absorb what i had achieved. It was a major deal for me to get to that finish line. I had completed slightly a longer run a few weeks previous in cooler and not so sunny conditions and was a different pace. For Silverstone i took the pace up a level and beat both my PB for 5K and 10K, i was stoked, but it also dawned on me just how HARD the London Marathon is gonna be on me. I remember thinking at mile 9 i was like 2 miles ahead maybe it was the sun beating down on me playing mind tricks but when i saw the mile marker i was disheartened and thought how will i get to the finish line, but i continued to push on with the encouragement of my running partner Angel Dee, for without her i wouldnt be running at all!!
Seeing scenes of people collapsing at the side of the track, people hooked up to oxygen tanks and people vomiting was an emotional scene, i didnt want to be one of those people and as much as my body told me to take a break and stop i pushed through that mind block to finish in 2 hours, 8 minutes and 54 seconds! I was so happy and nice to see some familiar faces cheering us on! Im very excited for London but equally as nervous! I need to make sure im 100% ready for whats to come! The journey continues!
